Cornerstone Montessori School Staff

Our teachers are trained to observe and identify each child’s unique learning capabilities. Because they form relationships with each child based on the child's interests and needs, the child is able to develop confidence and interest in learning.  All of the teachers are experienced, professional Montessori certified teachers.

Preprimary/Kindergarten Half Day Program

This program is for children 3 through 6 years of age.  In the Preprimary Program, the children are typically with us for three years: two years of preschool and the final year of Kindergarten.  Our maximum student-to-teacher ratio is 12:1.

At the end of this program, children either stay on with us for our Elementary Program or move on to traditional schools.  Our graduates have left to enter public schools, parochial schools and private schools.  The feedback we receive from parents is that their children are very well prepared for the environment they enter.

Kindergarten Full Day Program

This program is for children 5 and 6 years of age.  It is integrated within the half day sessions and offers the option of a full day a.m., lunch and p.m. session for kindergarten age children.

Lower Elementary

Our Lower Elementary Classrooms comprise first, second and third grades.  The number of spaces available each year in our Lower Elementary Classrooms is inadequate to serve all of our graduating Kindergarten students.  If you have an interest in our Elementary Programs, we encourage you to express your interest early and make application as soon as possible. Our maximum student teacher ratio is 12:1.

Upper Elementary

Our Upper Elementary Classrooms comprise of fourth, fifth and sixth grades.  Typically, students entering the Upper Elementary have come from Lower Elementary Montessori environment.  Making a transition at this point from traditional school could be challenging, however, we evaluate that possibility on an individual basis.  Our maximum student teacher ratio is 12:1.

Each of our programs is considered a three year unit.  All sessions meet five days per week except during weeks in which holidays, vacation, in-service days or weather emergencies occur. 

Enrichment

For families who need child care beyond the school day, Cornerstone provides loving and nurturing extended care.  This enrichment program is considered an extension of our classrooms.  Enrichment begins at 7:30a.m.-8:00a.m. and 3 p.m-6 p.m.
